The present is embodied in Hexagram 62 - Hsiao Kuo (Preponderance of the Small): In these circumstances which it implies, there will be progress and attainment, but it will be advantageous to be firm and correct. Action may be taken in small affairs, but not in great affairs. Like the notes that come down from a bird on the wing, to descend is better than to ascend. There will, in this way, be great good fortune.
The first (bottommost) line, divided, suggests the idea of a bird flying, and ascending till the issue is evil.
The second line, divided, shows its subject passing by his grandfather, and meeting with his grandmother - not attempting anything against his ruler, but meeting him as his minister. There will be no error.
The sixth line, divided, shows its subject not meeting the exigency of his situation, and exceeding his proper course. It suggests a bird flying far aloft. There will be evil. The case is what is called one of calamity and self-produced injury.
The situation is shifting, and Yang (the active masculine force) is becoming much more powerful.

The future is embodied in Hexagram 14 - Ta Yu (Possession in Great Measure): There will be great progress and success.
The things most apparent, those above and in front, are embodied by the upper trigram Chen (Thunder), which is transforming into Li (Fire). As part of this process, movement, initiative, and action are giving way to brightness and warmth.
The things least apparent, those below and behind, are embodied by the lower trigram Ken (Mountain), which is transforming into Chi'en (Heaven). As part of this process, stillness and obstruction are giving way to strength and creativity.
