The top left card represents the first possible outcome. The Devil, when reversed: Resistance of temptation. Freedom from bondage. The pursuit of higher goals despite the influence of luxury and pleasure. Release from obsession with money and power. Liberation from fear, weakness and indecision through communion with higher powers or the inner voice.
The top right card represents the second possible outcome. Hope, when reversed: Refusal to withdraw from an untenable position. Prideful stubbornness in the face of certain defeat. Waiting idly for miracles instead of working to create one. A slow and inevitable grind towards failure.
The middle left card represents the force drawing you towards the first possible outcome. Faith, when reversed: Using your beliefs as an excuse for your ignorance or persecution others. Committing dishonorable acts in the name of duty, loyalty, or faith. Vainly seeking the false romance of martyrdom. Abdicating your responsibilities in the material world to a higher power.
The middle right card represents the force drawing you towards the second possible outcome. Knight of Wands: The essence of fire, such a great conflagration. One filled with vitality and passion for life. A sexy and exciting person, daring in their actions, cocky in their attitude, and utterly without fear. Absolute sincerity, coupled with violent emotions that swing wildly from one extreme to another. Boundless creativity and lust for a change of both pace and place. The rapid approach, or more likely departure, of something that sets your world ablaze. Often suggests travel or escape.
The bottom card represents the critical factor that decides what will come to pass. Three of Cups (Abundance), when reversed: A time of shallow overindulgence, followed depletion. The successful but utterly unfulfilling conclusion of a matter. Satisfaction from sensual pleasures divorced from any sense of love. May indicate problems prematurely dismissed or a victory claimed before it is certain.
