Ganymede was a Trojan prince whose beauty enchanted Zeus. In the form of an eagle, the god kidnapped the boy and took him to Olympus, and immortality. The story is an allegory of the human soul raised and perfected by godhead. Ganymede was also associated with the constellation Aquarius, often called the angel.
